COMMUNITY Improvement Division, led by Officer-in-Charge Honorio G. Diputado Jr., in collaboration with the Cooperative Development Authority Region 10, successfully organized a Business Continuity Management seminar for various cooperative officials and members in Cagayan de Oro on July 19, this year.
City Administrator lawyer Roy Hilario P. Raagas, representing Mayor Rolando "Klarex" Uy, expressed profound gratitude for the continuous and strong partnership between the CDA and the local government in empowering and educating cooperative members.
“This collaboration aims to enhance their skills and knowledge in building resilient businesses,” said Raagas.
Raagas also emphasized that the Mayor's RISE development agenda includes a strong focus on economic recovery, with the cooperative mechanism playing a significant role in driving the city's progress.
“Recognizing the potential impact of cooperatives on the local economy, their collective efforts contribute to the overall growth and resilience of Cagayan de Oro,” said.
By fostering business continuity management practices, such as the ones discussed in the seminar, cooperatives are equipped to withstand and recover from various challenges and disruptions.
“This proactive approach ensures that businesses can continue to operate effectively and efficiently, even in times of uncertainty,” said Raagas.
Meanwhile, City Mayor's Office chief of staff Shiela Lumbatan said that through the RISE agenda's economic recovery initiatives, Mayor Uy aims to support and empower cooperatives and businesses in Cagayan de Oro.
Earlier, Lumbatan said that by strengthening the cooperative mechanism and providing resources for training and development, the city fosters an environment conducive to business growth, stability, and overall economic progress.
Moreover, Lumbatan said that Mayor Uy's RISE agenda recognizes the crucial role of cooperatives in the economic recovery of Cagayan de Oro.
Recognizing the impact of recent challenges, particularly on the economy, Lumbatan emphasized the need for a robust economic recovery plan.
During the mayor's recent State of the City address, according to Lumbatan, Uy elaborated that the city will work towards creating an environment that supports businesses, entrepreneurship, and job creation.
This may include attracting investments, supporting local industries, providing training and skills development programs, and promoting tourism and other sectors that contribute to economic growth, Lumbatan explained.
By focusing on economic recovery, she added that the city aims to revitalize its economy, create employment opportunities, and improve the overall well-being of its residents as mayor Uy emphasized on his Soca.
Lumbatan also added that the Business Continuity Management seminar organized by the Community Improvement Division and the Cooperative Development Authority Region 10 is a testament to the city government's commitment to providing necessary tools and knowledge to cooperative members.
"Through these efforts, Cagayan de Oro continues to flourish as a strong and thriving city," Lumbatan said.
