DRUG money, as we have seen it, comes easy, and in the context of the current war on drugs, people involved in this illegal trade also goes out the easy way as well, either via tokhang, legit police operation or through extra judicial killing or what is known in street language as EJK.
Is money really the root of all evil? Not necessarily. Methinks it has something to do with the nature of the person who possess it. More so if that individual is highly obsessed with money, influence and power. And we have aplenty of these in the portals of power and in the drug trade.
When easy money comes to people who are into the drugs, they generally change their personalities and become instant big spenders.
And most often than not, they spend like there is no tomorrow. Such was the case of high value inmates at the New Bilibid Prison (NBP).
With millions of drug money at hand, life was really fun behind bars. The posh lifestyles of Herbert Colangco, et al. was a clear manifestation of how corrupt our government was, four months ago.
And so the basis of the drug problem lies mainly with the culture of corruption more than anything else in this era of lies and deception. With “easy come, easy go” attitude, inmates grabbed that institutional weakness of government that was brought forth inside prison willfully by crooks in the justice department.
Drug money inside prison then was aplenty. And sadly, the business of drugs has become a cottage industry that doesn’t require any kind of advanced degree, all it takes is simply having the guts to do it.
It takes no hard work as well. Anyone can be a salesperson, male or female, young or old. They target the right audience, and more importantly, they move most often crowds in need of that feeling of extra high.
Such was the case in high end bars at the Fort, or anywhere where partying abound, drug money keeps the party alive!
With Kerwin Espinosa now in the custody of PNP Chief Bato de la Rosa, expect a can of worms soon to flood in the pages of mainstream and social media.
Even Sen. Manny Pacquiao, a staunch supporter against the illegal drugs trade, was shocked on knowing from his one-hour exclusive meeting with the younger Espinosa the long list of government officials involved in the illegal drug trade.
Expect heads to roll in the coming days. Pretty soon, there is no more easy money for these crooks masquerading as public servants. A go signal en route to NBP, or worse the EJK way is in the offing. Easy money, easy go.
