Complete details: A Facebook account named Even Demata posted on July 25 that Cebu City blogger Jude Bacalso passed away after being rushed to the hospital. A video link of the attempt to revive Bacalso was also included in the post.
But on clicking the link, it opens to an online shopping platform, an apparent click-bait marketing strategy.
The accompanying photo in the Facebook post has a watermark of another Facebook account named Pilipinas Today. A check on the posts of Pilipinas Today for the past 24 hours did not yield any post or photo as the one posted by Even Demata.
Why we fact check this: False information like this quickly garner considerable views and shares which results in misleading a lot of people and may also negatively affect the person targeted by this post. As of this writing, the post has garnered 8,600 reactions, 5,100 comments, and 4,700 shares as of this writing.
