THE family of a nin-year-old boy who was allegedly beaten by four minors in Iligan City has spoken out against “irresponsible content creators” who posted on social media that the boy had died.

In an interview with local radio station RMN dxIC Iligan, the victim’s sister, Jesyl Ensipido, denied the false reports.

She said the family is waiting for a doctor-requested CT scan for her brother.

“Wala'y video nga na record sa tinuod nga panghitabo ug dili na akong manghud ang makita diha,” Ensipido said.

A reporter who visited the hospital spoke with the boy’s mother, Ginalyn, who confirmed that her son is awake but still unable to speak.

The nine-year-old boy remains in the Pediatric Internal Care Unit at a local hospital.

The boy was allegedly ambushed and beaten on August 4 in Barangay Maria Cristina, Iligan City.

Two online pages, ‘About Cagayan de Oro — Acadeo’ and ‘Trip MOTO Venture,’ were identified as spreading disinformation.

The ‘About Cagayan de Oro’ page, which falsely reported that the suspects had been apprehended, had nearly 900 likes, 398 comments, and 253 shares and had not been taken down as of this posting.

For its part, ‘Trip MOTO Venture’ page posted that the child had passed away and expressed condolences. The post, which had garnered some 1,800 likes, 642 comments, and 338 shares, has since been deleted.
