CAGAYAN de Oro City Mayor Rolando "Klarex" Uy expressed his gratitude for the CLOAs granted by the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR), led by Provincial Agrarian Reform Officer Amparo Macarambon, said City Mayor's Office chief of staff Shiela Lumbatan.
Lumbatan saidvsaid a total of 46 Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries (ARBs) in the city were filled with joy as they finally received their Certificates of Land Ownership Awards (CLOAs) in a special event held at the covered court in Barangay Pagatpat.
"This significant event not only brings happiness to the recipients but also signifies a major step towards empowering farmers and recognizing their crucial contributions to society," said Lumbatan.
Lumbatan said in a heartfelt acknowledgment, the Mayor (Uy) extended his gratitude to the department for their efforts in distributing 46 Certificate of Land Ownership Awards (CLOA).
The distribution of CLOAs to these ARBs marks a significant achievement in the city's commitment to agrarian reform and rural development. The ceremony was held on Friday, August 18, 2023.
She said that by granting land ownership to these beneficiaries, the local government aims to provide them with a sense of security and stability, enabling them to have better control over their agricultural resources.
"This, in turn, has the potential to increase productivity and improve the livelihoods of the farmers and their families," she stressed.
The event itself was a momentous occasion, with city officials, representatives from the department, and community members coming together to celebrate the long-awaited fulfillment of land ownership rights.
The ARBs' dedication and hard work have finally paid off, and their perseverance serves as an inspiration for other farmers in the city, according to Lumbatan.
“They (farmers) are the backbone of the city's food production and contribute significantly to the overall economy,” said Lumbatan.
She also stressed that supporting and empowering them through initiatives like agrarian reform is crucial for the sustainable development of the communities.
Meanwhile, lawyer Samuel Rollo, representing the Mayor, emphasized the significance of the recognition and urged the beneficiaries, who are farmers in the city, to cherish and protect their awarded land.
He stressed the importance of not selling or abandoning the land as it holds immense value for their future.
He added the occasion symbolizes a step towards empowering the farmers and highlighting their essential role in society.
The DAR's program envisions a brighter future for farmers, ensuring that they receive support in their journey towards a better life.
He said the distribution of CLOAs serves as a testament to the government's commitment to uplifting farmers, reinforcing the message that they are not alone on their path to a prosperous future.
