Noise, noise, baby
THIS paper recently ran an item, “Kagay-anons sound off on noisy motorcycles.” Well, what can we expect from the LTO and the RTA regarding this?
I know managing traffic overall is not easy. That is why people in the traffic office must be competent in doing their job, not people who merely say yes to their appointing authority.
If the RTA men on the road cannot even successfully clear sidewalks of illegal vendors or side streets of illegal parking, how can we expect them to apprehend noisy motor vehicles? We can’t!
If the RTA leadership is only good at rationalizing their incompetence, how can we expect the traffic aides on the road to effectively perform their tasks? Or are they only ready to receive “tokens” from motorists? You don’t have to venture a guess.
DPWH and Puerto
THIS paper also recently ran a story on the repair of damaged roads in Puerto.
The DPWH has started working on the road repairs in Puerto, which has caused the traffic there to move at a snail’s pace.
I happened to pass by that Barangay on my way to the eastern side of the province, and indeed, passing through Puerto is a challenge.
But mind you, it is not only the roadworks that have caused the tremendous traffic build-up. It’s the incompetence of the RTA leadership to enforce traffic laws.
There are NO PARKING signs on the side of the road parallel to the flyover, and yet, there is also a wanton disregard of these signs by drivers, such that one lane of the road that could have been used by moving vehicles is filled with illegally parked vehicles!
So let us all stop complaining about traffic. The object of the people’s complaints should be the incompetence of the traffic management people!
