THE Cogon Night Market has generated P4.9 million in fees, more than doubling the P2.2 million collected in 2023, according to the city government.
The City Economic Enterprises and Business Development Administration (Ceebda) also reported that the Carmen Night Market contributed P643,508 in revenue from August to December 2024, reflecting the growing impact of night markets on the local economy.
Mayor Rolando ‘Klarex’ Uy credited night market vendors for their consistent payments and thanked collectors for ensuring smooth transactions. He reaffirmed his commitment to supporting vendors while enforcing city regulations.
“I’ll give them every opportunity to sell, provided they comply with our city’s laws,” Uy said adding: “All my decisions are based on improving public welfare, but I need their compliance.”
In 2022, Uy signed an executive order renaming the Cogon Night Market Committee to the CDO Night Market Committee, expanding its functions and overseeing multiple night markets.
The committee, chaired by Uy and co-chaired by former councilor Enrico Salcedo, will manage market operations and enforce regulations.
Ceebda remains the overall administrator, ensuring vendor compliance with zoning and traffic management plans set by the Roads and Traffic Administration.
With growing vendor participation and strong community support, Ceebda anticipates continued revenue growth, further strengthening Cagayan de Oro’s night market industry.
