CITY mayor's office Chief of Staff Sheila Lumbatan on Tuesday revealed that a significant number of businesses have been actively renewing their permits and new businesses have been securing permits at the City Hall.
Lumbatan said that based on the Business Permit Licensing Division (BPLD), a total of 14,522 businesses renewed their permits, and 550 new businesses secured their business permits from January 2 to 22.
Comparing the current numbers to the same period last year, there has been a slight increase in business permit activities according to Lumbatan.
In 2023, the City Hall received 13,545 business permit renewals and issued permits to 500 new businesses during the same timeframe.
Recent BPLD data for the period of January 22 to January 28, 2024, revealed that about 1,680 businesses renewed their permits, showing a continued trend of active business permit renewals.
"183 new businesses secured their business permits, indicating a positive environment for new business ventures in the city," Lumbatan added.
Highlighting the busiest days for permit activities, it was reported that the highest number of business permit renewals occurred on Monday, January 22, with a total of 588 renewals.
Meanwhile, the following day, January 23, saw a peak in business permit applications, with 49 new businesses obtaining their permits.
These numbers reflect a thriving business environment in Cagayan de Oro, showcasing the city's economic resilience and the confidence of both existing and new businesses in the local market.
"The city government remains committed to supporting and facilitating the growth of businesses, ultimately contributing to the overall development and prosperity of the community," said Lumbatan.
