Petro Gazz rolls back gas prices, Petron offers P2/L deal: Goking

AFTER the big-time fuel-price hike earlier this week, City Councilor George Goking today urged motorists to look for the cheapest gasoline and diesel products they can find around the city.

He said Petro Gazz and Petron are now offering cheap gas prices and offering discounts respectively.

“Accordingly, this was done “to minimize the impact” of the surging prices on motorists,” Goking said.

He said Petro Gazz started Thursday implementing price rollbacks on pump prices until March 13.

While, Petron offered a P2 discount per liter.

Earlier, Petron is the latest company to offer perks for vaccinated customers.

Vaccinated Petron customers (at least with their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine) get fuel discounts of P3 per liter for gasoline and P 2 per liter for diesel at participating Petron stations nationwide.

Price rollback in Petro Gazz stations nationwide started at 6 a.m. Thursday until 11:59 p.m. Sunday.

Petro Gazz is giving a rollback of P5.85 per liter for diesel and P3.6 per liter for gasoline products.

According to Goking, these were the same amount that oil firms implemented during the fuel price hikes last Tuesday.

"We are expecting another round of oil price hike next week from P10 to P12 increase," he said.

Chair of the City Council’s committee on trade and commerce, Goking said that if there is no letup in the increases in world oil prices, it would risk the city’s economic recovery.

“This another big-time oil price hike, set to be next week, could make the problems even worse,” Goking said.

Citing monitoring of oil trading as of this writing based on the Mean of Platts Singapore, an oil industry source said that the price per liter of diesel may surge by P12.72 per liter.

On March 8, Goking said, oil companies imposed the biggest price hike on petroleum products so far this year, marking the 10th straight week of price increases since the beginning of the year.
