Filipina para table tennis players Jhona Peña and Lhey Marie Manginsay boosted the Philippines' campaign for the 2026 Asian Para Games after winning a silver and a bronze medal, respectively, at the ITTF World Para Future 2026 in Thailand.
Peña delivered the country's best finish by claiming the silver medal in the Women's Class 7 Singles, while Manginsay captured the bronze in the Women's Class 9 Singles during the four-day tournament that concluded on July 16 in Nakhon Ratchasima.
The podium finishes give the Philippine team added confidence as it prepares for the 2026 Asian Para Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, scheduled for Oct. 16–23.
The tournament also provided valuable international experience and ranking points as the athletes faced some of the world's top para table tennis players.
Instead of returning home, Peña and Manginsay stayed in Thailand to compete in the higher-level ITTF World Para Elite tournament from July 18 to 22, where they will face tougher international opponents as they continue their preparations for the Asian Para Games.
