CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY — Police have stepped up campus safety efforts at Gusa Regional Science High School (GRSHS-X), days after the school administration and its Supreme Secondary Learner Government (SSLG) assured students that a reported sexual harassment complaint is undergoing due process.
Personnel from Cagayan de Oro City Police Station 3 (COCPS3), under the supervision of Station Commander PMAJ Melchor L. Annaway, visited the school on July 15 to conduct a dialogue with students and school security personnel aimed at strengthening crime prevention awareness and public safety.
The visitation comes as students and parents continue to seek assurance that the campus remains safe following the controversy, which drew widespread attention on social media and prompted separate statements from school officials and student leaders.
During the dialogue, police encouraged students to stay vigilant, avoid involvement in illegal activities, and immediately report suspicious incidents or emergencies.
They also reminded the school community that emergency assistance is available through the Unified 911 Hotline and the Police Station 3 hotline (0905-214-9550).
The activity complements ongoing efforts by the school after both the administration and the SSLG emphasized that the reported sexual harassment complaint is being handled in accordance with DepEd Order No. 006, s. 2026, with the guidance of DepEd personnel and a lawyer to ensure due process.
School officials earlier said statements from the parties involved have been gathered, available evidence is being evaluated, and concerned parents have been informed. They also clarified that the complaint is being treated as a serious matter and denied online claims that the case was being downplayed.
The SSLG likewise appealed to students to avoid spreading unverified information that could affect the investigation, stressing that any disciplinary action will be based on evidence, fairness, and established procedures.
