By: Netnet Camomot  NOW that the US has Donald Trump as its president-elect, the only thing we can say to Fil-Ams is, Good luck na lang! But at least the US now has him to blame for every bad thing that will happen from hereon. Women’s rights being “trumpled,” er, trampled upon, blame it on Trump. Racism worsens, blame it on Trump. The US economy dives, blame it on Trump. Protests and rallies, blame it on Trump. A wall rises between the US and Mexico, blame it on Trump. He should start wearing a goatee in preparation for his role as the US’s scapegoat. But the future wall in between the US and Mexico will surely be torn down eons later a la the Berlin Wall. Countries have to be politically correct, with politics as its main consideration in almost all choices for their present and future tenses, thus, walls are built and torn down depending on the priorities of their leaders and citizenries. Now that Trump is the US’s president-elect, I gotta feeling Mexico itself will build that wall to prevent him from entering the country of the yummiest tacos. And even before he can be inducted as president, there’s already chika he will be impeached! Whaaaaat?! Let him serve four years. Let’s see--not pronounced as the Spanish word for milk--where the US and the rest of the world will go with his brand of leadership. There’s another chika going around, that China will finally emerge as the new superpower once Trump brings the US down with him. With all the negativity surrounding his victory, what does that say about the Americans who voted for him? They elected him and not Hillary Clinton. He won because he was considered as the lesser evil. Which is not exactly a nice thing to say to an incoming president: Oh, I voted for you because you’re the lesser evil. Because, despite the “lesser” added to “evil,” they still see him as evil. If, say, the last thing you’ll eat are ampalaya and liver, but the only thing on the dining table is ampalaya sautéed with liver, will you still sate your hunger with that? Pinas has had its share of “eviler” and lesser evil political candidates. We lost count of the PIs that President Rody Duterte blurted out before and during his campaign, yet, he won, despite his PIs aka not the Philippine Islands. His PIs, spontaneity and candidness in sharing both political conquests and personal stories, and the way he says it as it is, endeared him to many potential voters who saw these as the traits of a guy who’s not hiding anything from them. He was--and still is--the spin doctor’s nightmare, but his first 100 days were considered as a huge success to those who started to regard him as their knight in shining armor that can save the country from the drug menace. Politicians have to make peace with everyone and anyone. They don’t need enemies. They need friends and so-called friends. Trump, however, has been gaining enemies, the way I gain pounds. Haha! He exhales a politically incorrect statement, and he gains more enemies. I inhale food, and I gain more pounds. So easy. That’s nature talking, once a particular thing glides as smoothly as lint down a ramp paved with silk. Each of us may need to find out, too, about our particular nature. When people hear our name, what comes to mind first? We have to define our joy, bliss, normal. It’s not the same as the answer to our “maging”: Anong gusto mong maging? We’re talking in present tense here. Recently, a friend shared how others are defining a particular person. Well, here’s unsolicited advice for that person: He needs a good spin doctor. Because the words others use to describe him are not nice at all. But negative words used to describe you don’t translate to the end of the world for you. No need of a spin doctor. Simply walk away, keep on moving forward, and--voila!--life goes on. I wrote this on a sunny Saturday morning, which is one proof of life going on and on. Days before last weekend, there was traffic or rain, or both. Oh, OK, traffic also on weekends, thanks to the glee that Christmas brings. Christmas carols are again playing in malls, department stores, and restos. They’re not my favorite music and Christmas is not my favorite season, but Pinoys love their Kris Kringle, simbang gabi, noche buena, media noche, and “exchange gift.” No, not Kris as in Aquino which is the kind of Kris that President Duterte might avoid like what he did recently for her TV comeback. But his spin doctors said he wasn’t avoiding her—he was simply not feeling well. At least, the words are “not feeling well,” and not sick. Because sick could morph to sick of her. Try saying, Not feeling well of her. Hmmm. Doesn’t sound as smooth as silk. Say, Sick of her. Smooth, yes? Yup, Kris is back on TV. How many times does she have to threaten to retire and make good on that threat? Darn! But she’s not a Kapamilya anymore. She’s now a Kapatid. Will Kapuso be the next TV network she’ll hop to? Well, here’s one word that hasn’t been adopted by any Pinoy TV network yet: Kaibigan. That’s what Trump needs now as the US’s president-elect--a real friend. Then, add to that his kapamilya, kapatid, and kapuso. And they can now all yell, You’re fired? Ayay.
