THE advice is to walk away.
But not to walk out! Girl, you have to see it through till the end. Once you’ve committed to do your duty for God and country, you have to see it through. No excuses. Even if it requires blood, sweat and tears.
I could have walked out, too, once upon a time. But I did not. I simply began counting the days till the end of my commitment to do my duty. That’s like swimming against the current which salmons are experts at—we’re not salmon, we’re human beings the last time I checked, so, yes, more difficult days ahead for the walk-outer. She should have opted not to run for the Senate, and all these seemingly bad things happening to her right now would not have been possible.
If the allegations against her are true, though, there must have been a strong urge to protect those alleged interests. Coupled with the belief that remaining in power would save her and she has the yellow team’s continued support no matter what, she then ran for that precious Senate seat? Gosh. We’re trying so hard to read her mind. We’re not even sure that’s her in the sex video. Speculate pa more.
In this oh so cruel world, another secret is to think first before doing any kind of s**t: Will you be able to withstand the pressure post-s**t? If you can, then, go ahead, make your day. Otherwise, better stare at the trees—they’re green at this time of the year, its calming effects can make you wish that’s all there is to life.
It also takes a village to commit a crime. If you’re part of that village, and you’re now used to the perks it provides, how to leave the village with specs and scarf intact. Still, they’re all allegations—innocent until proven guilty.
The Senate hearing is for extrajudicial killings. It’s beginning to look like it’s for the scarf-wearing lady senator. The hearing at the House of Representatives is supposedly not about her, too. The thought bubble hovering above the lady senator’s brilliant brain must be this: Estoryahe!
It’s during times like this that we miss Senator Miriam Defensor-Santiago. Who would she support in the midst of these walkouts?
Santiago wasn’t able to escape from bad press—there was chika years ago about alleged activities revolving around graft and corruption, but her public relations machinery, if she has one, was able to defuse that. In recent years, her pickup lines made her the millennials’ favorite speaker, proving that a politician can always move forward as long as she knows how to play the game.
My niece voted for Santiago last May, prompting me to ask, Why her? My own choice for president was a last-minute decision—I was already inside the precinct, sitting on a school desk and facing a blank ballot when I finally decided.
We can only speculate pa more on how the yellow team would have fared had Mar Roxas won. Surely, there would be no extrajudicial killings. No hearings on extrajudicial killings. No revelations on the alleged Bilibid drug trade. No focus on Bilibid’s drug lords, with most Pinoys oblivious to names such as... Jaybee who? Colangco who? Oh, it’s Colanggo?
No questions on a wristwatch. No Bato. No non-politically correct statements from the president. PI would mean Philippine Islands, and not Putang Ina. The Philippines would continue to exist like as if everything is doing A-ok, thank you.
Which now brings us to Sen. Leila de Lima’s A1 source. Each time she mentioned that at the Senate hearing, I’d say, A.1. Sauce. You know, for steaks. Hay, ewan. Which reminds me of Erwan Heussaff, the boyfriend of Anne Curtis.
Which now brings us to Apo Hiking Society’s “Ewan”: “Hindi ko alam kung bakit ka ganyan/Mahirap kausapin at di pa namamansin.” Well, it’s not only “di pa namamansin.” Because it’s walkout galore for de Lima.
On Tuesday morning, I posted on Facebook a photo of my favorite snacks of the moment: peanuts, mixed nuts with cornics, and pistachios. All bought at S&R.
Yes, S&R is making me fat. Haha! It had a sale last weekend. After realizing I couldn’t use any of the items that were on sale, I went for food instead. Among the food items that I like, only Spam was on sale—bought a dozen of that. Oh my.
Popcorn would have been the best choice in watching the hearings’ live coverage. What do you eat anyway while watching “Barcelona: A Love Untold”? Popcorn, right? But after gulping down six small containers of that, thanks to S&R again, I thought, Never again!
It’s back to protein shakes. And lots of water. This is the bane of an emotional eater. Every emotion—joy, happiness, sadness, gloom, glee—becomes a cause to eat. And the effect is of course additional pounds. I’ve been monitoring my weight daily since forever. It went from 167 pounds to 154 to 143—for I love you, haha!—and it’s now back way up there where it loves to linger. Good thing I kept my large clothes because the medium ones don’t fit anymore. Meanwhile, the XXL are stored in a suitcase, to be mailed to a cousin whom I promised these clothes to, since I’m not planning to wear them ever again!
Another secret in life is to maintain the weight for lesser clothing expenses. I have to lose weight so I could go back to medium again—these are the new clothes I was so happy to buy, some of them are even in small sizes, depending on the brand. Thus, to find out that they don’t fit anymore has been a wakeup call for me. And then, there’s the knee—slimmer body means better knee.
De Lima must be having her own wakeup calls but I doubt if they include the dilemma on body weight. More likely, it’s about keeping or losing the scarf.
