ONE died, while another person was fatally wounded when a motorcycle they were riding hit a water tanker while traversing Sayre Highway in Bukidnon yesterday.

Poice Col. Jun Mark Lagare, Provincial Police Director, identified the fatality as Marbert Quiño, 27, married, a resident of Purok 8, North Poblacion Maramag, Bukidnon.

While his companion was identified as John Rey Omamalin, 30, married, a resident of Base Camp of the same place.

A police report revealed the incident occurred at Purok 5, Barangay Tubigon at 9:30 am.

It was learned that prior to the incident, the victims were riding a Yamaha Sniper color blue, with plate number 1020-070362, driven by Quiño when it crashed into another vehicle which was at that time negotiating a u-turn along the said highway.

Gingly Basilio, 31, residing a native of Catbalugan, Samar, a driver of Mitsubishi Fuso water tanker with plate number TTK889 registered to Marikina Food Corporation based at Parang City, is now under the custody of the Maramag police after he surrendered to the authorities.

Quiño and Omamalin were rushed to the nearest hospital for treatment unfortunately, the former was declared upon arrival.

In connection with the said incident, Lagare ordered Maramag police to strictly implement traffic laws and conduct random checkpoints for the safety of the motorists.

He added that motorists should be responsible and take extra care while driving and cooperate with the authorities in terms of road safety rules and policies.
