A TOTAL of 138 families were rendered homeless after a fire of still unknown origin gutted down their houses along the boundary of Barangays Puntod and Lapasan this morning.

A male resident who sustained a minor burn to his body was rushed to the hospital for treatment.
Senior Fire Officer 1V Samson Velarde put the initial estimated amount of the damaged properties at P1.6 million
Velarde said the narrow passage going to the fire scene had caused a delay for the firefighters to quell the fire.
The same official said the fire started on the second floor of the house owned by a certain Virginia Laga at about 6 am.
It was learned that in San Isidro, Lapasan there were 80 houses were razed to the ground and four were partially burned.
While in Puntod there were 14 houses partially burned.
A total of 153 families were affected ― 138 in Lapasan and 15 in Puntod.
It can be recalled that several years back, the same place had a big fire that also occurred burning several houses and hundreds of individuals became homeless.
