A motorcycle driver and his female passenger were killed and three others were hospitalized after the motorcycles they were riding rammed into each other at Valencia city, Bukidnon provincial road last week.
Police Col. Reynante Reyes, the province’s regional director, identified the fatalities as Adonis Parian, 26, single, and a resident of Barangay Nazareth, Cagayan de Oro City; and Charlene Tuazon,24, single, and residing at Purok 17, Barangay Hindangon, Valencia of the said province.
A police report conducted by Valencia police revealed that the victims were riding a Honda motorcycle, bearing plate no. 642KDD and while maneuvering along Barangay San Carlos of the said city, the driver overtook a cargo truck but unfortunately collided with another incoming motorcycle.
The two motorcycles tumbled down on the roadway and were overrun by the cargo truck.
Police investigators identified the other victims as Alpie Sandig (the motorcycle driver), 26, single, a resident of Purok 4, Lurugan.
While his passengers were identified as Alfredo Mainit, Sr., 64, married; and Roberto Sarsua, 32, single, both residents of Purok 4 of the said barangay.
They were riding a Skygo motorcycle, bearing plate no.199KHA when the accident happened.
Police said Sandig has no driver’s license and also failed to present an Official Receipt, and Certificate of Registration for the motorcycle he was driving.
After the incident, the unidentified truck driver hurriedly fled away from the crime scene and he is now still at large.
In relation to this, Reyes immediately ordered Valencia police investigators to conduct a thorough investigation and identify the truck driver for the latter’s subsequent arrest.
He also ordered them to strictly implement traffic laws and conduct random checkpoints for the safety of the motorists.
For the motorists, Reyes reminded them to practice a responsible attitude and take extra precautions while driving, and cooperate with the authorities in terms of road safety rules and policies.
