TWO minors were killed on the spot while several others were hospitalized when the Public Utility Vehicle (PUJ) they were riding turned turtle while traversing Barangay Kiliog, Libona in Bukidnon yesterday at 10:20 am.

All the victims, who are residents of Barangay Sambulawan, Laguindingan, Misamis Oriental, were brought to different hospitals in Cagayan de Oro City.

The said incident occurred when an Isuzu PUJ with plate number KVH 440, had a brake malfunction while maneuvering the curved portion of the road.

The driver lost control of the steering causing the vehicle to tumble down resulting in the death of the two minors who at that time were sitting in the front seat.

All the passengers on board were reportedly coming from a vigil and burial of a relative at Barangay Laturan of the said town and were heading home.

Police Capt. Manolito Budo, Libona Municipal Station chief, identified the victims as Elvie Maglangit, 52, widower; Ferdinand Omongos, 40; Analyn Gallibot, 38; Pedro Anunciado, 73; Ricky Catian, 49; and Carmela Anunciado, 59. They were brought to Northern Mindanao Medical Center.

Brought to JR Borja Hospital were Leonora Eluna, 58; Margie Elona, 27; Cherry Mae Catian, 47; Anna lee Catian, 42; and Joel Catian.

The other victims were identified as Elvie Danlog, 51; Lovely Fernandez, 27; Jonel Anunciado, 51; Francisca Pacana, 60, Barangay Councilor of the said barangay; and Cornelio Danggoy, the vehicle driver.

They were brought to Libona Rural Health Unit but later transferred to JR Borja Hospital.

The police refused to give the names of the two slain minors.
