A welder and his companion were arrested by authorities for selling illegal drugs during a buy-bust operation, yesterday afternoon.
Confiscated also from them was a high-powered short firearm.
Police Col. James Gaylan, City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU) head, identified the suspects as Geoffry Taburnal, 38, a welder by profession and a resident of Sitio Bontong, Edward Malveda, 35, liaison personnel of a private company and a resident of Dangallo Hillside, both of Barangay Camaman-an, Cagayan de Oro City.
CDEU operatives together with the City Intelligence Unit, and the Regional Drug Enforcement Unit, arrested the suspects while at Sitio Bontong at 3 pm.
According to a police report, prior to the arrest, authorities’ poseur-buyer was able to buy a sachet containing suspected shabu from the suspects worth P500.
Seized from the suspects were the six heat-sealed transparent sachets containing a white crystalline substance believed to be shabu with an estimated street value of P20,400, a .45 caliber pistol loaded with three live bullets, P3,000 bills, and a P500 buy-bust money.
The suspects are temporarily detained at police station 2 awaiting the filing of charges.
