THREE former rebels received livelihood kits worth P8,000 each from the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) in Impasugong, Bukidnon on Wednesday last week, military officials said Monday.
Army's 4th Infantry Division public affairs chief Major Rodulfo Cordero said that the P8,000 worth “Negosyo Kits” distributed among the 3 individuals were carpentry tools, mini groceries and other support services.
The former rebels received their share from the government support through the entrepreneurship program dubbed as Pangkabuhayan sa PagBangon at Ginhawa (PBG) in DTI Impasugong, Bukidnon on September 9, 2020.
"This is to enable them to start a small sari-sari store and become an entrepreneur," said Cordero.
DTI senior trade and industries Jose D. Maureal spearheaded the distribution of livelihood assistance and handed-over the starter kits to each rebel as their working capital.
"This program is free and intended just for you. Make use of this to start a small business to help you lead a new life," said Maureal.
Army's 8th Infantry Battalion civil military officer 2nd Lieutenant Camille Bumatay said the three former rebels thanked the local government of Impasugong, military and the trade and industry department of the town.
“Ako mapasalamaton sa lokal na gobyerno, sa ahensya sa DTI ug sa mga kasundalohan sa tanang plano, programang gipanghatag para sa among mga panginahanglan ug tabang panginabuhian, kung diin kini naga hatag kanamo og kadasig para manimoyo sa among bag-ong panginabuhi sa maayo nga gobyerno.” Alias Rey, one of the recipients said.
8IB commander Lt. Colonel Edgardo Talaroc Jr., said the activity is another milestone that his unit together with the local government and different agencies in Bukidnon showed sincerity in providing interventions for former rebels.
"This program intends to help in reintegrating them into mainstream society and be productive citizens," said Talaroc.
On August 25, 2020, two former rebels also received starter kits worth P8,000.00 each from DTI's Negosyo Center Sumilao. (Ben Balce)
