“ANXIETY/Keep on trying me/Feel it quietly/Tryna silence me, yeah/Anxiety/Shake it off of me/Somebody’s watching me/It’s my anxiety.”

I wonder how people, who have anxiety and panic attacks, are reacting to that song.

If you’ve been there, done that with anxiety, then you may not want to be reminded about anxiety.

The carnivore diet is supposed to banish anxiety and panic attacks to Siberia. But how will I know? The longest time I stayed carnivore was in October 2024, for three weeks.

I keep looking forward to the 30th or even the 90th day of this diet, hoping to be as strong as “Ballerina’s” Eve Macarro (Ana de Armas) by then.

By the way, Macarro is the female John Wick, and that description could be enough in piquing the curiosity of the John Wick fan.

My only gauge now in assessing if a movie is worth watching is it should keep me awake. And “Ballerina” didn’t disappoint. It kept me awake. Or perhaps what kept me awake were the business calls that I was discreetly answering while Macarro was blocking a blowtorch attack with water from a firehose.

So, where does the “Ballerina” come from? Oh. She’s a ballet dancer that morphed into an assassin, thus, the title.

Watching movies on a big screen has become my weekly Artist’s Date which is one of Julia Cameron’s two tips for overcoming writer’s block. The other is the Morning Pages, a daily three-page handwritten journal to be done upon waking up.

As I shared in a previous column, my Morning Pages have morphed into the Evening Pages since I simply don’t have enough time to write upon waking up. No wonder I still have writer’s block, huh? If only reading books can unblock that, then I’ll be writing forevermore. I’ve been reading at least two books daily so I can decide which of these books to keep.

Reading and writing have always been my favorite coping mechanisms. These are hobbies that don’t need company.

Cameron’s advice on the Artist’s Date is it should be an alone time. A gym workout is also an alone time. So, I now have four hobbies that don’t require company.

Shopping is best done alone: no pressure to hurry for someone who’s waiting for you to decide what to buy already. Unless you need that someone’s advice on what to buy.

Some activities that are usually done with at least one companion can be an alone time, too: travel and tours, watching movies and concerts, eating out.

Zumba is one activity that requires company — the more, the merrier. Same for group exercise classes. Operative word: group. People Power also requires company, otherwise, para que? Its title says People, not Person.

People who can never be alone are the country’s president, vice president, senators, congressmen, governors, mayors, vice mayors, councilors, and barangay officials who are so used to having an entourage or at least a personal assistant. The same goes for showbiz celebrities and all other kinds of celebrities. Will they have anxiety and panic attacks if their PA is not around?
