Pinas is a small country. It’s not the U.S. or China. Although there’s chismis that Duterte went to Hong Kong hoping to seek asylum in China.
But the Pinoy gets this feeling that PR—public relations—people are behind all these social-media posts to cover up some chismis. The truth is, chismis is gossip until proven as the truth and nothing but the truth.
So, for a while there, the Elias dance craze was overpowered by the bride and the salt. Who were then overpowered by the arrest and the travel of Duterte to The Hague.
The comments and posts of the defenders of these trending people will now be on social media, and you don’t even have to make a wild guess whose side they’re on. Me? I’m with Elias, of course.

In case you have no idea who the bride is, go to Facebook and let’s hope some people are still posting about her. Because it’s all about Duterte now. Which gives me a feeling of deja vu of that scenario after Ninoy Aquino was assassinated on Aug. 21, 1983 since the same surname was being floated as responsible for his gruesome death. The whole truth and nothing but the truth behind that assassination has never been revealed. All the Pinoy gets even now are the bits and pieces of a conspiracy theory.
The Pinoy is fond of conspiracy theories.
At least this time, no one was assassinated. Only arrested and flown to The Hague. Wait, people did die — allegedly, reportedly, supposedly? — during Duterte’s presidency through Tokhang, his war on illegal drugs. And because of that war, drug lords, drug dealers, and drug addicts cowered in fear and became more praning than ever.
There’s the Pinoy who will probably ask those responsible for Duterte’s arrest this question: Are you drugs? Which can be the same question for the bride who allegedly casted a spell on her groom-to-be through gayuma. The couple even went through a same-day-edit photo shoot at the Pearlmont Hotel in Cagayan de Oro, with the bride in her bridal gown, and the groom in his suit. Without paying the wedding coordinator and his team a single cent.
The wedding coordinator did pay the hotel so they could all be allowed to prep for the wedding day. Or was it the groom’s friend who paid for it? Tsk tsk. This story is as confusing as the bride.
