PHILIPPINE Army (PA) commander Maj. Gen. Andres Centino visited on Wednesday the units under the Army’s 4th Infantry Division in Caraga and Northern Mindanao regions on September 15 and 16, as part of his efforts to raise troop morale.
Philippine Army spokesperson Col Demy Zagala said Centino visited the troops to see their operational readiness and morale while conducting security operations to secure the communities amidst the pandemic.
The CGPA's visit aims to check that our soldiers in the frontlines of the government's fight against the communist group, according to Zagala.
Adding that are provided with the best training, equipment, and all the necessary support.
“With the necessary support, our soldiers can perform their tasks with excellence to end the local communist armed conflict in the country,” Zagala said.
Centino also personally congratulated the Army units with significant accomplishments against the communist in their respective area of operations in the two (2) regions.
"To the troops of the 4th Infantry Division, I commend you for a job well done,” said Centino.
He said that the hard work and dedication resulted in the neutralization and capture of enemy personalities, and the seizure of firearms contributed to ending the local communist armed conflict in the country.
Centino also assured the soldiers that the Philippine Army will provide all the support they need to accomplish their mission.
“Just do your job, sustain the excellence and discipline in protecting the communities and serving the people in your area of operation, especially in these trying times,” said Centino adding that the people trusted the soldiers and not let them fail.
Earlier, Army’s 4ID battalions 23rd, 88th, and 1st Special Forces Battalion figured in a series of encounters with the NPA rebels in Agusan del Norte and Bukidnon last week.
As the result, they neutralized 5, captured 11 including 3 minors and seized 27 high-powered firearms, 3 grenade launchers, and 1 anti-personnel mine. (Ben Balce)
