MALAYBALAY City, Bukidnon — A 39-year-old man was stabbed three times after a confrontation with his wife’s former lover at their residence in Barangay Patpat on October 26, police said.

The suspect, also 39, allegedly went to the victim’s house at around 1:20 p.m. to confront the victim’s wife, who reportedly had a past relationship with him.

Police said the confrontation escalated into a fistfight, prompting the suspect to allegedly pull a knife from his sling bag and stab the victim in the neck, left shoulder and left arm.

The victim was taken to the Bukidnon Provincial Medical Center for treatment and was reported to be in stable condition.

The suspect later surrendered to nearby barangay public safety officers before being turned over to the Malaybalay City Police Station, along with the knife allegedly used in the attack.

Bukidnon police provincial director PCOL Oliver Sotto Navales ordered a thorough investigation into the incident.

“Cooperation and support of community is the key to make Bukidnon a safe place to live and do business,” Navales said.

The suspect remains in police custody pending documentation and the filing of appropriate charges.
