Joint military and police operations arrested an alleged New People’s Army (NPA) extortionist in Bukidnon early this week, a military official said Saturday.

Army’s 4th Infantry Division public affairs chief Major Rodulfo Cordero identified the suspect as  Jean Pacino, who was apprehended in her house at Purok 7, Sitio Miaray, Mandahican, Cabanglasan, Bukidnon at 9:45 am on July 28. Tuesday.

Cordero said the suspect is an alleged member of Sanga ng Partido sa Lokalidad (SPL) of Guerilla Front Malayag of Sub-Regional Committee 2 (GFM-SRC2) of the CPP-NPA North central Mindanao Regional Committee (NCMRC).

The suspect was arrested during the implementation of a search warrant issued by Judge Rainier Eusebio D. Aquino of Municipal Circuit Trial Court of Lantapan-Cabanglasan, 10th Judicial Region dated July 22, 2020 against violation of RA 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act).

Pacino is the live-in partner of Richard Dagno who was convicted of murder but escaped from Davao Penal Colony (DAPECOL) on 16 December 2016,acvording to Cordero.

“Both were identified as members of the New People’s Army (NPA) rebels operating under Sangay ng Partido sa Lokalidad (SPL) of Guerilla Front Malayag, SRC2, NCMRC,” he said.

Cordero said this was disclosed in the report of the army’s 88th Infantry Battalion (88IB) Community Support Program (CSP) team immersed in the said barangay.

Confiscated in her possession were two units of caliber 45 pistol with steel magazines; a 12-gauge shotgun with a steel magazine; and nine cartridges of 7.62mm ammunition.


Reports from the community support team according to Cordero, also showed that the duo was conducting extortion activities involving construction companies that operate in the municipality of Cabanglasan and neighboring municipalities.

The joint AFP-PNP operation was spearheaded by Bukidnon criminal investigation and detection group, 1st Provincial Mobile Force Company; 12th Special Action Company; PIB Bukidnon; Cabanglasan MPS; and troops of 88IB.

“With the passage of the Anti-Terrorism Act, we will ensure that each member of this NPA extortionist group will be punished,” said 88IB commander Lt. Col Franklin F. Fabic
Fabic lauded the government operatives for their efforts on the successful operation against the NPA extortionist.
