IN Camiguin island, a 43-year-old Australian citizen was arrested for a charge against Violence Against Women and Children Law, yesterday morning.
Police Col. Romel Lampa Cena, Mambajao Municipal Police Station commander, identified the suspect as Ross Bradley Bezanson, presently residing at Abu Baylao, Mambajao of the said province.
The suspect was nabbed while at his residence at about 12 noon.
Mambajao police were armed with a warrant of arrest issued by Judge Nannette Escalera-Lao of the Regional Trial Court, Branch 28, Mambajao, Camiguin dated July 7, 2022.
The judge allowed the suspect to post a bail bond of P72,000 for his temporary liberty.
Bezanson is now under the custody of the Mambajao police for the booking and documentation procedures.
If VAWC or Violation Against Women and Children will be proven in court, the offenders will be penalized with imprisonment ranging from one month and one day to 20 years payment of P100,000 to P300,000 in damages, mandatory psychological counseling, or psychiatric treatment.
