NINE farmers and fisher cooperatives and associations (FCAs) from various parts of northern Mindanao have showcased their locally sourced products in a trade fair facilitated by the regional agriculture department (DA-10) starting May 9, officials said Tuesday. “The trade fair in Ayala Centrio Mall brings locally sourced Normin products, likely in one shop,” said DA-10 technical director for operations Carlota S. Madriaga. Madriaga said the trade fair, dubbed as "Alagang Ayala Farmers' Fair” (AAFF), features a variety of food products that are locally produced in the region. The goal is to promote northern Mindanao's agri-fishery products and at the same time providing fresh and healthy foods to the locals, according to Madriaga. The exhibit features the agricultural produce and its by-products of agri-fishery sectors namely; RJ Agriproducts, Manzano Farm, Northern Mindanao Federation of Dairy Cooperatives, Farmgrown Association of Claveria, NM Foods, Mylin Products, CNQ Agriventures, Kape Mindanaw, and Homegrown Marketing. DA-10 agribusiness and marketing assistance division (AMAD) head Larry E. Paraluman said the trade fair will run for a year starting May 9, of which exhibitors can participate in the trade display free-of-charge for the rental space. Paraluman detailed that the arrangement is the Ayala Malls’ commitment, as part of their social responsibility to help small enterprises, on top of their regular exhibitors of herbal and ornamental plants. Since its kickoff activity, Farmgrown shared that among their saleable products in their stall are turmeric powder, banana chips, sautéed shrimp, salted eggs and bottled fresh milk; while for Manzano's Farm are the lemon and mangoes.
