A SON of a village councilor in one of the hinterland barangays in Cagayan de Oro City and his companion were arrested by the police in a buy-bust operation, Wednesday afternoon.
Police Maj. Aldren Baculio, Police Station 8 commander, identified the son of Barangay Baikingon kagawad as Jesrel Tapay, 29, single, and his friend Arjhon Clark Jarap, single, both residing at Zone 2 of the said Barangay.
Baculio and his men nabbed the suspects at Zone 2 of the same Barangay at 3:30 pm.
A police report revealed that prior to the arrest, a poseur-buyer was able to buy a sachet of suspected shabu worth P500 from the suspects.
Police also seized from the same suspects two heat-sealed transparent plastic cellophane containing the white crystalline substance of suspected shabu with an estimated street value of P23,800, a P500 buy-bust money, and some personal belongings.
The suspects are now under the custody of the said police station for a case filing.
Police Col. Aaron Mandia, Cagayan de Oro City Police Office chief, lauded the significant accomplishment of the operating team that yielded a positive result.
“With this, I strongly discourage the general public not to engage in any illegal drug-related activity. Your Higalang Pulis in Cocpo is steadfast to fulfill its mandate on its anti-illegal drug campaign,” Mandia said.
