I thought a cockroach in my bedroom would make me morph into an anxious and panicky insomniac. But I was able to sleep well and only remembered its presence a few days later when it passed by the bathroom doorway.
I don’t know if this was the first one I saw weeks ago, which I thought had already left for greener pastures outside the bedroom door. Or is this a new one, a relative of the first.
I was about to charge my phone on Wednesday morning when the cockroach went rushing from under the mini-fridge to some place that I don’t remember now. I suddenly became busy jumping around, trying to avoid the roach, how could I remember where it went?
A few seconds later, it was rushing again across the floor to some dark place under a cabinet. This time, I sent SOS signals to the househelp. By the time she arrived, the roach was already gone of course. I now have a broom inside the bedroom just in case the cockroach will appear again.
I had been closing the bedroom door after seeing the first roach weeks ago, the one that I thought was already caught by the househelp. Closing the door to prevent an invasion from its family tree. But with this second roach, which could be the first roach, perhaps I didn’t prevent the roach clan from entering the room but kept it inside instead by always closing the door. Hmmm. Confusing?
I don’t have any idea why these cockroaches have suddenly found my bedroom as their sanctuary. There has been no food here. The mini fridge is simply decor. Hehe. The last time I ate here was, oh, last month when I had some chicheria, a taste-test of what I had been missing since I went low-carb in February 2022.
Yeah, blame it on carbs. Haha.
But that was last month. If any chicheria pieces had fallen on the floor, they’re now too unpalatable even for the cockroach.
So, why do they want to stay in my bedroom? Is it the water in the en suite bathroom? Unless scaring me is their new-found hobby.
Anyway, the househelp told me they’ve caught the roach already. Or have they? Tsk tsk.
The last three months could have been stressful if I were still in a high-carb diet. Carbs can worsen anxiety and panic attacks. But low-carb and most especially the carnivore and lion diets can help the dieter accept things as they are.
It has been one deadline after another, complete with requirements that made me wonder, Where and how could I find that? I didn’t go the gym for ten days so I could focus on the tasks at hand and people could call me 24/7 if they needed to. I did go to the gym in the first few days, but I couldn’t concentrate anymore because of the phone calls, so, I decided to stop for a while.
That’s why when the first cockroach appeared, my initial reaction was, Really? At this ungodly hour of 1 am? I’ve had enough for today! Whew.
