Planning your next trip? You can now find discounted, government-vetted travel deals in one place—and avoid online booking scams at the same time.
The Department of Tourism (DOT) has launched "Discover More to Love," a digital platform that gives travelers access to more than 3,000 verified deals on hotels, flights, tours, and wellness activities through the DOT website.
The platform is designed to help Filipinos, including Mindanao travelers, book with confidence while saving money, especially during the tourism industry's off-peak season from July to November.
Why it matters to you
Unlike many online travel listings, every hotel, airline, tour operator, and travel agency featured on the platform has been vetted by the DOT.
Partners include trusted travel providers such as AirAsia MOVE, Klook, and Mastercard, giving travelers more confidence that the services they book are legitimate.
The platform also strengthens consumer protection. Travelers who encounter problems with bookings can report them directly, allowing the DOT to investigate and hold accredited suppliers accountable.
"The whole point is to give reliable information to travelers. When they book through the platform and there is a complaint, we could easily monitor and call out the supplier," said DOT Secretary Dita Angara-Mathay.
More savings during the rainy season
The biggest discounts are available during the industry's soft season, when travel demand is typically lower. This allows families, students, and budget-conscious travelers to enjoy lower prices while exploring destinations across the country.
A boost for Mindanao tourism
The platform also creates new opportunities for tourism businesses across Mindanao.
Hotels, transport operators, and tour agencies can promote their services to a nationwide audience, helping generate bookings during slower months and support local jobs.
Jonel Magdaraog, owner and general manager of The Bachelor Travel and Tours, said domestic tourism continues to drive the industry, with local bookings increasing by 30 to 40 percent after the pandemic.
"So, we're really banking on domestic tourism," Magdaraog said.
Domestic tourism spending reached P3.26 trillion in 2025, underscoring the growing importance of Filipino travelers in sustaining the industry.
Tourism businesses that have not yet joined the platform can still apply through their nearest DOT office for accreditation and digital onboarding. (Dave Achondo, Editorial Associate)
