THE Province of Bukidnon will be the first to implement the Province-led Agriculture and Fisheries Extension System (PAFES) in the Northern Mindanao.
In a virtual meeting on Friday, Agriculture department regional technical director for Operations Carlota S. Madriaga said, the meeting is to ensure effective and efficient implementation of the PAFES.
This (PAFES) under the OneDA reform agenda in Transforming Philippine Agriculture, according to Madriaga.
Madriaga said the activity aims to update members of the Regional Program Management and Technical Support Team (RPMTST) on its activities.
“We have already begun coordination activities with our pilot province, Bukidnon – being the food basket of northern Mindanao and having the biggest production area for agriculture,” she said.
Through PAFES, the province serves as an extension hub that synchronizes agricultural plans programs, including in orchestrating the activities of various stakeholders.
It further seeks to strengthen the collaboration of DA, local government units (LGUs) and other stakeholders to ensure the delivery of agri-fishery programs and services amid the challenges of devolution.
Spearheaded by the DA-10's planning, monitoring and evaluation division, the meeting was attended by representatives from its attached bureaus and agencies along with other stakeholders.
It also tackled updates and future plans concerning the series of workshops for local government units for its harmonious implementation. (DA-10/PIA-10)
