A 45-year-old farmer in Bukidnon is now languishing in jail after authorities raided his residence Wednesday at 5 am for possessing a high-caliber firearm and ammunition.
Police Provincial Director Police Colonel Reynante Reyes, identified the suspect as Rexis Murcota, single, and a resident of Purok 7, Barangay Tankulan, Damulog town of the said province.
The raiding team was able to confiscate from the suspect’s possession a cal. 45 pistol, a silver magazine loaded with six live bullets, and live ammunition loaded in the pistol’s chamber.
Also found was a sack containing five live ammunition of cal.45, three empty shotgun shells, a military green holster, and a black and gray backpack.
The raiding group composed of Damulog Municipal Police Station led by Police Lt. Anthony Ofima, together with Bukidnon 2nd Police Mobile Force Company, and 1003rd Coy Regional Mobile Force Brigade 10 were armed with a search warrant issued by Judge Isobel Barroso, of the Regional Trial Court-10, Branch 8 in Malaybalay City, Bukidnon dated November 16.
Murcota and the confiscated pieces of evidence were brought to Damulog police headquarters for documentation while a case in violation of R.A 10591 is being prepared for filing.
