TWO more patients quarantined at the state-run Northern Mindanao Medical Center (NMMC) on suspicion of contracting the 2019 novel coronavirus disease died on Monday, the regional hospital's chief confirmed this morning. One of those who died was from Cagayan de Oro.
Dr. Jose Chan, NMMC chief, told a news briefing at city hall that one of the patients had been in isolation in the hospital for some time while the other had just been admitted.
Chan confirmed that one of the patients was from this city while the other was from another area in the region. It was the first time a person from this city, feared to have contracted the virus, died in quarantine at the NMMC.
Both died of severe acute respiratory illnesses, said Chan.
The deaths brought to five the number of people who died at the NMMC since the start of the campaign to prevent the deadly virus from spreading in this part of the country. Details to follow (Herbie Gomez)
