STRINGENT health protocols were imposed by the provincial government of Camiguin to limit the spread of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) virus in the island, a report said Thursday.
The province and the local government units (LGUs) even reaffirmed health-related practices in response to the pandemic by implementing health safety protocols in their communities.
Heightened safety protocols while balancing health precautionary measures without denting economic activity through effective governance and acute governmental interventions.
Through the conduct of regular live video update online and the province-wide meetings every 15 days spearheaded by Gov. Jurdin Romualdo, the province strives to integrate critical stakeholders in upholding the Regional Inter-Agency Task Force for Emerging Infectious Diseases’ (RIATF-EID) prevention and control protocols, and tackle the crisis as one unit.
In a unified approach, the island province safeguards the integral health of frontliners, especially the personnel in the hospitals by upgrading their public health facilities, allocating provisions of personal protective equipment (PPEs) to their health service providers, acquiring drugs and equipment in relation to respiratory illnesses, and creating a system to monitor their front liner’s health status and needs.
In terms of care for COVID-19 positive individuals or suspected cases, the province supervised and provided technical services and logistics on the establishment of municipal and barangay isolation units, while also imposing strict implementation of foot bath and hand washing areas in all checkpoints and municipal borders to promote hand-hygiene as another way of limiting the spread of the virus.
Romualdo said, using a comprehensive approach in dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic, Camiguin in relation to their health-interventions moves forward as one, disregarding personal and political interests to provide quality and effective governmental interventions to the citizens of the province.
Further, the province continues to implement regular health programs in consonance with health safety protocols mandated by the Department of Health (DOH)-10 and IATF, like the “Patak Polio” campaign and the distribution of information, education, and communication (IEC) materials regarding dengue.Also the continuous supplementary feeding of malnourished children in the province to holistically provide health programs despite the crisis.
