CAMIGUIN’S first Covid-19 patient has yet to be isolated in a hospital, showed an official statement from the Department of Health in Region 10 on Sunday.
But the DOH assured that the 33-year female outpatient of Mahinog town is under strict home quarantine, and is being monitored by provincial and municipal health personnel.
As indicated in the DOH-10 statement, the woman was immediately placed under a mandatory 14-day home quarantine upon arrival because of travel history to Metro Manila from March 8 to 14, this year.
Three days after the quarantine period ended, a swab was taken because she had colds and sore throat and that specimen was sent to a reference laboratory for testing. That test result turned out positive. The patient has a pre-existing health condition, asthma.
This brings Region 10’s Covid-19 cases to six, as of April 5. The other five are from Iligan with two, and one each from Cagayan de Oro, Lanao del Norte and Misamis Occidental.
On Saturday, in a live-video aired in his fanpage, Gov.Jurdin Jesus Romualdo said he was surprised of the positive test result since she was listed as a person under monitoring (PUM).
Specimens from the woman were tested negative twice. But the third test result, 21 days after her travel, showed she has the virus.
In a Covid-19 briefer on Sunday, the DOH-10’s regional emergency surveillance and disaster response unit listed 92 persons under investigation (PUI) who are either in hospitals or under home quarantine while 234 others have already completed the two-week quarantine period.
Some 4,459 individuals, listed as PUMs, have received certificates of quarantine completion while 47 have yet to fully comply. (Uriel C. Quilinguing)
