IT seems there was much more to the shocking death of a young police officer inside the Camp Alagar of Cagayan de Oro than what meets the eye.
Police patrolman Andy Requilme was found dead seated on a wooden chair inside his barracks, and bathed in his own blood yesterday noon.
Initial investigation suggests that the 29-year-old victim from Barangay Indahag, this city could have taken his own life, though Requilme’s family is still awaiting the results of an autopsy conducted on his body, as of this writing.
In a spot report provided by Lieutenant Col. Michelle Olaivar (PIO) to the media, it reads that at about 12:58 pm, Master Sgt. Jessie Aurigue received a piece of information from Sgt. Celso Labajan Jr, an assigned driver at the DRDO office, that he heard at least two gunshots from the motor pool area of Camp Vicente Alagar in Barangay Lapasan.
Responding to the scene, detailed cops in the area found the lifeless body of Requilme as declared by Police Captain Calixto Briones Jr of the RMDU-10, bearing one fatal bullet wound to the forehead.
The victim’s friends and relatives ― who described Requilme as a good, jolly, and very friendly person ― as well as the netizens quickly flooded with posts and comments on social media, questioning the manner how he died and the mysterious circumstances surrounding it.
“Why suicide when he’s always a happy face? Why in the forehead? How come there were two gunshots heard?” were just some of the questions they raised.
Police Station 3 Investigator, PSMS Jhonel Monterola reportedly said Alagar personnel guns, who were present during the incident, will be put under ballistic test to determine if there was foul play or not in Requilme’s stunning end.
“Usa ka sa sige’g motivate nako sa una. Lisod kaayo dawaton, dili mi katoo,” said one former colleague Jusper Dominguito, who posted some memorable throwback photos with Requilme on his Facebook wall.
