NORTHERN Mindanao Police Regional Office has kicked off its celebration for the 27th Police Community Relations Month with the theme, “Ugnayang Pulisya at Komunidad Tungo sa Mapayapa, Maayos, at Maunlad na Pamayanan,” held at Camp Alagar in Cagayan de Oro City.
The activity, led by police Brigadier General Regional director Benjamin P Acorda Jr, highlighted with the awarding ceremony to the deserving Philippine National Police units and personnel for their valuable contribution to the overall efficiency of the police office in police-community partnership that greatly contributed to the peace and order and community development of their respective area of responsibility.
Highlights were the giving of awards to the deserving PRO-10 personnel who were recognized for their commendable acts in the performance of their duty. A Medalya ng Kadakilaan was awarded to 10 PNP personnel while 4 personnel were also awarded with Medalya ng Papuri.
Plaques of recognition were also given to various stakeholders for their unwavering support toward PRO-10’s current thrusts and programs, namely, Balingasag Mayor Alexis Quina, Talakag, Bukidnon Mayor Vergito Factura, Region 10 Rotary International District Chairman Cris Macapayag, STEAG Powerplant, among others.
In her message, the guest speaker and Department of Tourism (DOT)-10 Regional Director Marie Elaine Salvaña-Unchuan emphasized the need for cooperation among stakeholders toward a safe and secure Northern Mindanao towards development.
“We have to work together always with the common goal of ensuring that development will surely happen in our region. With a snappy and able local police force ensuring our peace and order, our tourism becomes more robust, and surely more investors will come in and more job opportunities are there for our Filipinos, especially for our Lumads, small businessmen, tourism workers, and all other stakeholders that are geared towards a strong economy,” Unchuan said.
Further, PRO-10 Regional Director Benjamin P Acorda Jr underscored the importance of community relations between the police and the public particularly in crime prevention for averting crime and bolstering law enforcement operations.
“Ang programang ito ay bahagi pa rin ng ating mandato na maghatid ng serbisyo sa ibat-ibang sulok ng ating pamayanan. Ang layunin din nito ay madama ng komunidad ang presensya at malasakit ng ating gobyerno kahit sa simpleng pamamaraan,” he said.
