FOR allegedly selling two stolen land titles, three persons were arrested by personnel assigned at the Cagayan de Oro City Police Office, Wednesday afternoon.
Police Maj. Mario Mantalla, Jr., Police Station 4 commander, identified the suspects as Ruth Mallari, 51, married, a resident of Neri St.; Joel Mallari, 50, married, residing at Zone 2; and Redentor Aquias, 55, married of Neri St., all of Barangay Bayabas, Cagayan de Oro City.
The suspects were arrested after selling two Original Certificate Titles (OCTs) to Chanda Hernandez, 40, a single of Zone 2, Zayas, Barangay Carmen.
In a police report, it was learned that the suspects offered to sell the said documents to the complainant.
Doubting that the documents were not owned by the suspects, Hernandez contacted the police.
Police, however, did not name the real owner of the OCTs.
An entrapment operation was then conducted against the suspects. Hernandez and the suspects agreed to meet at a fast-food chain located at the Georgetown building at Pelaez Blvd., Barangay Kauswagan.
Recovered from the possession of Ruth (Mallari) were two genuine P1,000 bills; four bundles of boodle money, two (stolen) original land titles, 16 different documents, eight different identification cards, two Wallets, two mobile phones, and a passport.
The suspects, who are currently under the custody of the said police station, will be facing estafa and swindling cases.
