A SWIFT action conducted by members of the Cagayan de Oro City Police Office had resulted in the arrest of three suspects who shot and killed a 27-year-old tribal member yesterday at Zayas, Carmen.
Police Col. Aaron Mandia, Cocpo chief, identified the suspects as Jose Paraguya, 50, Reny Atubang, a member of Bagani Tribal Force, married, and Eludiu Tutu, 41, single, all residing at landfill Zayas, in Upper Carmen.
A responding unit arrested the suspects from police station 4 headed by Police Major Mario Nalla together with the City’s Intelligence Unit, and City Mobile Force Company in connection with the death of Jemar Lauron, single and a resident of St. Paul, Puntod.
The victim, who was a member of the Mangangayaw Tribal Force, had sustained gunshot wounds to his chest and face that resulted in his death.
The incident occurred at about 6 pm while at the said place.
During the arrest, authorities recovered an improvised shotgun (sumpak) with 12 gauge live ammunition from Paraguya. At the same time, a .45 caliber pistol with six live bullets was taken from Tutu's possession.
Police also confiscated from the possession of Atubang an empty shell of a 12 gauge shotgun.
Police said the suspects were tagged mutually conspiring to kill the victim.
Authorities also arrested Aljun Pauran, 34, married, Rico Reunido, 18, single, Joven Dagdangan, 18, married, and Henry Jabla, 71, married all residing at Landfill, Upper Zayas, Carmen.
Nalla said they were arrested for obstruction of justice after trying to stop the responding team from charging their companions.
Aside from obstruction, the three were arrested for possessing native swords which are considered a violation of a Commission on Election (Comelec) gun ban.
All the suspects are now temporarily detained at the said police station while investigations regarding the motive of the killing are still being determined.
