IN an effort to totally eliminate the illegal drug menace in all barangays, the Cagayan de Oro City Police Office (Cocpo) spearheads an anti-drug seminar on how to solve the said problem.
The just-concluded Orientation and Workshop on Strengthening Institutional Capacities of Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Committees was held at Pearlmont Hotel, Limketkai Drive, Wednesday.
Police Lt. Col. Jelesis Teves and Police Major Evan Viñas spearheaded the conduct of lectures relative to the Barangay Drug Clearing operation updates and assessment.
The said activity was attended by the different anti-drug group representatives such as Community Base Officers, Barangay Anti-Drug Council Focal Persons, City Anti-Drug Council Officers, and City Wellness Officer-In-Charge.
Police Col. Aaron Mandia, Cocpo Director, said the aim of the said seminar is to fast-track the plans and programs and make the Community Base, City anti-Drug Abuse council, community Base Drug Rehabilitation Program participants in the Barangay level comply and to receive a certificate of completion with the program.
During also of the said gathering several issues, concerns, proposals, and recommendations coming from the 80 Barangay Officials in the city were delivered to Cocpo.
Mandia said participants were reminded to Conduct constant Badac meetings with the Barangay officials along with their respective Station Commanders as Badac advisers.
They are also told to conduct periodic workshops and seminars aligned with the Department of Interior and Local Government activity in Strengthening Institutional Capacities of Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Committees.
Mandia said, he is optimistic that said activity will produce a fruitful result in the days to come as it is empowered the Local Government of Barangay Level in handling their CBRP enrollees in their pursuit to achieve a status of being drug-free.
This, Mandia said with the constant support of Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-10, Philippine National Police, DILG, and other concerned agencies.
