A total of 69 firearms and explosives have been surrendered to the Cagayan de Oro Police Office (Cocpo) headquarters this morning.
Police Major Evan Viñas, Cocpo spokesman said, the said surrendered guns aligned with their office’s “Armas Baylo Bugas” program.
City Mayor Rolando Uy, who graced the event, thanked the police for their initiatives.
He said that the program is already a big help in the peace and order in the city.
Viñas said all the surrendered items came from the different police stations in the city from the month of April to July.
Each firearm will have an exchange equivalent to 25 kilos of rice.
Viñas said Cocpo’s head Police Col. Aaron Mandia is hoping that through the said initiative, many more individuals who have unlicensed firearms will surrender the firearms to them.
