DUE to illegal fishing activity, a 44-year-old person was arrested by the authorities on Tuesday, police said.
Misamis Oriental Provincial Police Office officer-in-charge Police Col. Gonzalo Villamor identified the suspect as certain Richard Largo, married, and a resident of Purok 1A, Barangay Consuelo, Magsaysay of the said province.
The suspect was caught in the act of conducting illegal fishing while at the sea of Barangay Poblacion of the said town at 10:40 am by joint seaborne patrol personnel assigned at Magsaysay Municipal Police Station led by Police Major Jackson Cabanatan, Officer-in-Charge, and the group of Deputized Fish Warden (DFW) in the area.
Recovered from the possession of the suspect were a motorized banca, a Honda GX 390 13 HP Engine, a 100 meters’ hook and line, 2 wooden paddles, 8 watts bulb, and a 9 plates quantum battery with a estimated total value of P49,620.00.
Largo is now under the custody of Magsaysay police for booking and documentation.
