AN autopsy of Lady Grace Galo, a 19-year-old woman who was fatally stabbed in Dinogon, Sta. Ana, Tagoloan, revealed contusions and a bite mark on the lower back of her head, police said on Tuesday.
Tagoloan Police Investigator PCapt. Reczon Talines said officers have been working nonstop to identify Galo’s killer.
“Naa syay bun-og sa iyang ulo. Mura’g gibunalan siguro to dayon naa sya’y bite mark sa iyang likod,” said Talines.
However, the bite mark is unlikely to help identify the suspect due to the body’s bloated condition, complicating any dental analysis.
“Na identify sad didto nga wala sya nahilabtan,” Talines added.
Three persons of interest (POIs) are undergoing investigation, with polygraph tests scheduled for this week. Talines said one of the three is the prime suspect in the case.
Authorities are waiting for fingerprint results from the knife recovered at the crime scene, which will be cross-checked against the POIs.
Talines said they are close to identifying the suspect but they need to establish solid pieces of evidence to build a strong case.
“Gitagpi-tagpi nato ang mga statement para matugma nato ang mga (pieces of evidence) nga na-recover nato sa crime scene,” added Talines.
Talines said investigators are verifying the alibis of the POIs by checking their attendance at their workplaces during the time of the crime and reviewing CCTV footage to confirm their movements.
The provincial headquarters has deployed additional personnel to expedite the case, aiming to deliver justice to Galo’s family.
The Tagoloan Police Station has intensified checkpoints across its jurisdiction following Galo’s murder and two other violent incidents in Barangay Sihayon last week—a fatal stabbing on Sunday and a shooting early Tuesday morning.
Talines urged the public to remain vigilant and cooperate with authorities as they continue their investigation.
