FOR illegally possessing firearms and ammunition, 32- and 18-year-old males were arrested in separate operations in Bukidnon and Misamis Oriental.
The suspects were identified as Edan Acero, married, self-employed, a resident of Kawal Kalinga, Barangay 10, Malaybalay City of the said province, and Jan Mark Molina, a resident of Purok 7, Barangay 24-A, Gingoog City of the said province.
Police Col. Jun Mark Lagare said Acero was arrested by elements assigned at Malaybalay City Police Station led by Police Capt. Christian Serdeña was at his residence yesterday at 1:21 pm.
While Molina was nabbed by personnel from Gingoog City Police Station led by Police Col. Mitchel Clemencio on Sunday at 7:30 pm.
Seized from Acero were three caliber .45 cartridges, three caliber .45 fired cartridges, a 9mm fired Cartridge case, nine caliber .38 cartridges, an inter dynamic KG99 9mm luger submachine pistol with accessories ― attached scope and tactical flashlight, a steel magazine; and 20 9mm cartridges.
The police were armed with a search warrant issued by Judge Isobel Barroso, Executive Judge of Regional Trial Court, 10th Judicial Region-Branch 8, Malaybalay City, Bukidnon.
Meanwhile, Molina was arrested when a concerned citizen called the Gingoog police office informing the assigned desk officer that a robbery incident was transpired at Villa Veronica Subdivision, Barangay San Juan and that the suspect was armed with a short firearm.
Immediately authorities responded to the call, rounded up the suspect, and convinced him to just surrender peacefully.
After a briefed negotiation the suspect yielded himself up to the police.
A .38 revolver with a defaced serial number was taken from the suspect's possession, a sling bag color faded Black, five live ammunition of cal.38, and a sharp-pointed knife with scabbard.
The arrested persons are now under the custody of respective police stations for booking, documentation, and filing of appropriate charges in court.
