A suspected 28-year-old cattle rustler who victimized a police officer was arrested, Tuesday afternoon.
Police Col. Jun Mark Lagare, Bukidnon Provincial police director, identified the suspect as Junrey Sumandig, single, and a resident of Zone 4, Sitio Miranda, Barangay Damilag, Manolo Fortich of the said province.
He was arrested by the complainant who is also an active police officer identified as Police Staff Master Sgt. Efren Ellevera is assigned to the Puerto police station and is a resident of Barangay Alae in the same province.
According to Ellevera, he discovered that his animal was already missing at about 4 am.
He said he immediately coordinated with Civilian Volunteer Organization members in the area to help him looking the missing cattle.
Ellevera said at about 9 pm he and the other arresting team caught the suspect together with seven other individuals in the act of slaughtering the farm animal near the former’s house.
Ellevera then introduced himself as a police officer and effected the arrest.
But his companions evaded the arrest by scampering in different directions.
The suspect, together with the evidence recovered in the area was properly turned over to Manolo Fortich police for proper disposition.
