IN Maramag, Bukidnon, a laborer was arrested Wednesday for extorting a big sum of money from a gasoline station manager.
Police Col. Jun Mark Lagare, Police Provincial Director, identified the suspect as John Mark Antonio, 24, single, and a resident of Purok 11, Barangay Vintar, Valencia City of the said province.
The arrest happened when Daniel Maghinay, manager of BYB Gasoline Station located at Purok-3, Batangan, of the said city reported to the operatives of 88th Infantry Battalion, 4th Infantry Division of the Philippine Army and disclosed that he received an extortion letter from the suspect demanding P2 million in cash.
Immediately, the same group conducted an entrapment operation at about 1:30 pm against the suspect and arrested him.
Confiscated from Antonio were a genuine P1 thousand bill, 62 pieces photocopied P1 thousand bill that served as boodle money, a fragmentation grenade, and an itel black keypad cellphone.
The suspect and all confiscated items are under the custody of Valencia City Police Station for proper disposition.
Police will file a robbery-extortion case against the suspect.
