FOR manufacturing an unregistered chainsaw, a 38-year-old Naawan town resident in Misamis Oriental was arrested Wednesday at 12:10 pm.
Police Col. Raniel Valones, Provincial Police Director, identified the suspect as Sanny Acot, single and residing at Purok 1, Barangay Mat-i of the said City and Province
He was arrested by Naawan Municipal Police Station led by Police Major Lemuel Sabanal by virtue of a Bench Warrant of Arrest for the crime of Republic Act 9175 known as the ‘Chainsaw Act of 2002’.
Regional Trial Court Judge Jamel Tabao-Mamutuk of Branch 44, Initao Misamis Oriental dated May 17, 2022, recommended the suspect P36,000 bail bond for his temporary liberty
Under R.A.9175 any person who imports or manufactures a chain saw without obtaining prior authorization from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources shall be punished by imprisonment of not less than one month or more than six months and a fine of not less than P1,000 to more than P4,000.
