A 30-year-old farmer, who was tagged by the police as the number 1 most wanted person at the municipal level, was arrested yesterday in connection with a rape case.
Police Col. Jun Mark Lagare, Bukidnon Police Provincial Director, identified the suspect as Catalino Obenza Jr., married, and a resident of Purok 1, Barangay East, Kibawe, of the said province.
Lagare said the suspect was arrested by a joint team from Kibawe municipal police station, led by Police Lt. Ruel Literatus, together with Regional Special Operation Unit-10, 2nd Bukidnon Mobile Force Company, and 1003rd Regional Mobile Force Batallion-10 at 10 am at Purok 2, Barangay East.
The arresting officers were armed with a warrant of arrest issued by Judge Wilfredo Bibera, Jr. of the Regional Trial Court-Branch 46 of Malaybalay City.
Bibera slapped the suspect with no bail bond recommended for two counts of rape, qualified rape through sexual assault, and sexual abuse.
Obenza is now under the custody of Kibawe police for proper disposition.
Lagare commended the arresting personnel for a job well done.
