A 33-year-old rape suspect in Kalilangan, Bukidnon was arrested by policemen last Thursday.
Police Col. Jun Mark Lagare, Provincial Police Director, identified the suspect as Joelan Awa, married, a native of Sitio Bayabas, Barangay Burgos, Surigao del Sur.
Awa, who is the second most wanted person at the regional level, was arrested by elements assigned at Kalilangan Municipal Police Station led by Police Capt. Merlin Macawili while at Sitio Danao, Furchaco 1V, Malinao of the said municipality at 1:25 pm.
The raiding team was armed with a warrant of arrest issued by Judge Edwin Malazarte of the Regional Trial Court 13-11th Judicial Regional, Branch 40, Tandag, Surigao City.
Due to the degree of the offense, Malazarte recommended no bail bond for the suspect’s temporary liberty.
