NINE hours after the two detainees who escaped from Agora police station mini-cell, were recaptured by pursuing policemen yesterday morning.
Police Capt. Ernesto Sanchez, police station 3 chief, identified the escapees as Sam Babion, 18, single, and Joshua Fortis, 24, single, both residing at Zone 3A, Barangay Gusa, this city.
It was learned that Babion was arrested on February 23, for carnapping; while Fortis was arrested on February 3 for illegal drug use.
Cagayan de Oro City Police Office Director Police Col. Aaron Mandia said the two escaped from their detention cell at about 1:00 am yesterday during a power outage.
They used a steel saw and escaped unnoticed.
A pursuit operation led by Sanchez was then conducted against the suspects.
The pursuing policemen caught the two at 10 am while at the said place in Barangay Gusa.
The escapees are now returned to the custodial facility of the said station and face appropriate action.
Meanwhile, Mandia lauded all personnel of Police Station 3 for their immediate actions.
