A total of 10 pieces of lumber suspected to be illegally cut were confiscated by authorities after these were abandoned by the suspects along the road of Manticao, Misamis Oriental Tuesday, this week.
Police Col. Raniel Valones, Misamis Oriental Provincial Police Director said, personnel from Manticao municipal police station headed by Police Major Ramel Amatiaga were the ones who responded to the area at 10:35 am at Purok 1, Barangay Camanga of the said town where the hot items were found.
At the area, responding policemen had recovered 4x8 cut Antipolo lumber ready to be transported with a total of 250 board feet and with an estimated market street value of P9,000.
The said lumbers are now under the custody of Manticao police and are to be turned over to the Department of Environment and Natural Resources in the area.
Authorities are still conducting an investigation as to the identities of the perpetrators.
